I sell an AI education program, so you'd expect this post to be a sales pitch wearing a trench coat. It's not — because the fastest way to lose in this business is to start it for the wrong reasons. So here's the honest ledger, both columns.
Worth it if: you'll pick one niche, send real outreach, and put in 60–90 days of focused work before expecting the payoff. Not worth it if: you want passive income, hate talking to business owners, or are shopping for a lottery ticket. This is a service business with recurring revenue — the best kind — but it is a business.
The demand is absurd and unserved. Every local business owner has heard they "need to be using AI." Almost none know how, and none want to learn. There is no shelf they can buy this from — someone has to show up and install it. That someone is rare. The tools are everywhere; the operators are still scarce.
The revenue compounds. Retainers of $2K–$10K/month per client mean each win stacks on the last instead of resetting to zero. (Pricing breakdown here.) Compare that to freelancing, where every month starts at $0.
The startup cost is a rounding error. A franchise wants $50K–$500K. A rental property wants a down payment. A degree wants four years. This wants a laptop, a proven stack, and effort. The barrier isn't capital — it's execution, which is exactly why the people who execute get paid.
Recessions don't kill it. Missed calls cost businesses money in every economy. If anything, tight markets make owners more interested in plugging leaks.
The first 3 weeks feel like homework. Learning the stack, the niche language, the audit math. Our members compress this because it's handed to them, but nobody skips it entirely.
Outreach is uncomfortable. Step 7 of the 10 steps — 20 real conversations — is where most quitters quit. Rejection is part of the tuition.
Clients expect results. Recurring revenue means recurring responsibility. The system has to run; the calls have to get answered. This is a real service to real businesses, not a dashboard you watch.
People who want money without conversations. People who'll spend six months "researching." People who need income this week — get stable first, build this nights and weekends like most of our members did. And anyone allergic to following a process — the path works when it's walked in order.
Here's the part I'd underline. Markets like this have a land-grab phase: demand is obvious, supply of operators is thin, and the businesses signing retainers today will keep those relationships for years. The window doesn't stay open because eventually, in every city, a handful of implementers lock up the best clients. Being early isn't everything — but in a relationship business, it's a lot.
Worth it — for the specific person willing to run a 60-day sprint and be mildly uncomfortable on the phone. I lost my job to this technology before I built a company on it, so I'll say it plainly: the wave is coming either way. The only question is which side of it you're standing on.
